Children

The Khushi Project is tri-partite Public–Private–People initiative reaching out to 3089 Anganwadis (Early Childhood Care Centres) in select blocks in South Rajasthan. Jatan Sansthan is one of the implementing partners of this project, working with 504 of the 3089 Anganwadis Centres in the areas of Railmagra, Rajsamand and Khamnor with support of Hindustan Zinc Private Limited and Ministry of Women & Child Development.

This is a collaborative project between Kshamtalaya and Jatan Sansthan. Currently being implemented in rural parts of Kotra and Gogunda, it is envisioned to bring Educational and Social Equity by re-imagining and contributing to learning spaces-through supporting a fellowship programme.

1098 – is a telephone helpline for children in distress. Jatan Sansthan runs two Child Line Centres one from its Rajsamand office and the other from Udaipur City Railway Station. This is a 24 X 7 service. The Constitution of India recognizes the children of India as citizens with rights. Children are vulnerable and this makes the protection of children and their rights an urgent imperative.

The Apna Jatan Centre is located within at an urban settlement, Neemach Kheda Basti in Udaipur city. The centre attracts over 60 children each day. It is a facility for children in the age of group of 2 – 14. Music, sports, field trips, dance and drama are part of the many activities. The centre is managed by three full time staff members – two teachers and an attendant. A nutritious breakfast is provided each morning.

The Apna Jatan Centre is a centre for children located within an urban low income settlement, Neemach Kheda Basti at Udaipur city. The centre attracts over 45 children each day. It is a facility for children in the age of group of 2 – 16.

Helping children with home work, reading art, craft, theatre activities, games and music and dance workshops are part of the many activities. The centre also has a terrace gardening programme. Apna Jatan Kendra is managed by three full time staff members – two teachers and an attendant. A nutritious breakfast is provided each morning for younger children.

The Healthy Generation Project is a flagship initiative of Jatan Sansthan, supported by Sattva and financially assisted by the Harish Beena Shah Foundation. The project is being implemented across 200 villages in the Kumbhalgarh block of Rajsamand district and the Pindwara block of Sirohi district in Rajasthan.

With an ambitious outreach, the project directly targets over 20,000 children, 20,000 women, 8,000 adolescent girls, and approximately 1,300 service providers including frontline workers, educators, and health personnel.

The project supported by Echidna looks at Strengthening Systems for Early Learning Among Children. This project will scale up Early Childhood Development (ECD) interventions to improve pre-school preparedness of children through strengthening the ICDS services ( Integrated Child
Development Services), over a two-year period. This project will be implemented in two blocks Amet and Devgarh of Rajsamand district, to provide equitable access to preschool education. The current proposal builds on and will integrate powerful levers for accelerating Education for All (EFA), rights of the child enshrined in the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), Sustainable Development Goals and will undertake policy advocacy at Block and district level.

The Nandghar Project is an initiative by the Anil Agarwal Foundation aimed at transforming Anganwadi Centers under the Department of Women and Child Development into child-friendly, community-driven hubs. This project is operational across 14 states in India and is being implemented by Jatan Sansthan in Rajasthan, covering 500 Nandghars across Jaipur, Udaipur, Bhilwara, Shahpura, Sarada, and Rajsamand districts.

Project Diganth which is running under the aegis of Jatan Sansthan and Kshamtalaya Foundation.

The project Diganth supports to strengthen educational provision at two senior secondary schools in Mandwa and Jhed Panchayats, in Kotra block, Udaipur. This program aims at supporting students from senior secondary schools in the area and to continue and complete their secondary school studies and helps in developing their awareness of higher education streams and employment opportunities. This will enable young people to make informed decisions about future opportunities and will support socio-economic transformation in the area.

The Kangaroo Mother Care Program is a facility-based initiative aimed at improving the survival, growth, and development of low birth weight and preterm newborns in the tribal districts of Banswara, Dungarpur, and Pratapgarh. The program focuses on reducing neonatal morbidity and mortality in areas of high- low birth weight and pre term babies. The implementation of this program is driven by a collaborative partnership between Jatan and Ansh.
